I’ve realized that I haven’t blogged in a bit less than a year! It’s amazing how much can change and happen in a relatively short amount of time.
Since the last time I posted on here, I’ve travelled around Europe, visited Florida for Christmas ,gotten glasses, started (and almost finished!) grade seven, become a teenager, started a YouTube channel (with 0.16 k + subscribers), been to a WE day event and so much more. I actually got braces two weeks ago, as well!
In these past months, I’ve read tons of books, had multiple favourite songs and favourite outfits, and (let’s be honest…) taken many a selfie.
But I’ve also grown a lot as a person, I think – in my interests, beliefs and values. For example, I’ve learned that I easily get caught up in the amount of followers, likes and subscribers I have and I’ve figured out how to prevent that from happening too much. Social media has been a definite positive for me this year, but also a major negative. I’m looking forward to being back here on the blog and maybe sharing some advice on social media that I’ve gathered for myself and some things I do that keep me generally content and happy.
I also want to use this blog to show you pretty things I have, outfits, room decor, crafts, baked goods – little things that make me happy!
So, now that I’ve ranted on about myself a bit,
What has happened to you in the past year? Do you think you’ve grown as a person? What would you like to see me post on here?!
I’ve been in Europe for the past month and a bit, and although it was amazing, it feels SO good to be home! Thanks to sleeping in my own lovely bed, eating supper cooked by my own mum, and making breakfast in my own kitchen, I’ve been feeling generally happy! So, today, I am going to be writing about things that make me happy! I was inspired by Brittany (Hello Bubblegum)’s original post, as well as Lexie’s post which was inspired by Hello Bubblegum. I find that simply writing a few, or many, things (like these) that you are grateful for can really make your day, ore even week. I hope that this post inspires some of you to try this challenge/tag thingy out! I mostly wrote moments and events but you could do any kind of thing you want!
*NOTE*: These are in no particular order. Also, I’m not even sure I wrote exactly 100 things so if I didn’t please don’t say 😀

Could you relate to any of those things? Which one was your favourite?
So, I know I haven’t blogged in just about a month, and I apologize for that. My website got over it’s bandwidth limit or something (???), which meant it was down one day that I meant to post on… I know that’s no excuse, but I am really sorry.
I may have started posts with paragraphs like that in the past, and I almost did it today, but then I realized, that, really, I need to practice what I preach. I recently gave some blogging tips to a friend, and one of them was to blog for yourself (my exact words were: Don’t blog for followers; blog for you; to process, have fun, get your thoughts out, and maybe even help a few people along the way). And, if posting when you don’t want to is blogging for yourself, then
gif not mine…anyone know what this is from?
Anyhoo, like I said, I think that if I am forcing myself to post when I don’t want to, it is blogging for others and that’s just not fun. And when blogging isn’t fun, you should take a break, or, quit, if it’s never enjoyable at all (not the case for me! 😉 ). I do not blog for money (I don’t have any sponsors or ads etc.), or for followers, so, sorry (not sorry), but if I don’t want to post, there is no post.
I encourage you all to think the same way. This is not supposed to be a moody rant (although reading back on what I just wrote, it kinda feels like one); I just wanted to explain and share my realization with everyone. If you enjoy posting 5 times a week, and you have enough time to do so (WOAH!), then, by all means, do it!As a middle school student, I find it hard to post all the time, but I really hope to inspire and make you laugh when I do. I have tons of fun with this blog; I just don’t want it taking up my life.
I’ll admit that I have lost some readers because of my multiple month breaks throughout the last year. If you’ve read a few of those “What I Look For In A Blog” posts, you might have come across people mentioning that if the blogger hasn’t posted in the last week, they immediately leave that site. I disagree with this rule, because I think that what matters is the quality of writing and humor, and definitely not how much the person posts. I would love you all to check back on my blog and other not-so-often-posters’ blogs, and maybe even follow on Bloglovin’, because, even if you don’t see our posts showing up in your feed every week, you might enjoy the blogs, and besides…what is there to lose? 🙂
Now, after all that, I just want to mention that this isn’t supposed to be an “I’m only going to blog once a month now” announcement. I might start posting more, or I might not!
I enjoyed writing my opinions down today for you guys to see.
Please remember- blog for yourself, post when YOU want, and don’t apologize for staying off your blog for a while.
Today I have another fun and kind of review-ish post; I thought I’d talk about my favourite things this week!

AVEENO Intense Relief Hand Cream
I bought this lovely hand cream on Thursday, and even though I’ve only used it 3 or 4 times this week, I am seeing results and it’s already a favourite! My skin is smoother and less red and dry. Yay!

I’ve actually been loving the TED app recently; I’ve found some really inspiring talks that are a lot better for me to watch than mindless YouTube videos.
Here is my favourite TED talk so far:
t e l e v i s i o n
No doubt; I am in love with this show! I was home from school sick on Wednesday, so I watched it all day. Literally. All. Day. I’m currently watching SEASON 9, but am only on the Battles so don’t spoil anything for me! My favourite contestants right now are
Braiden Sunshine & Korin Bukowski
photos above not mine!

Samson (The Voice Performance) by Chase Kerby & Korin Bukowski (picture of her above)
I’ve been listening to this song on repeat for hours on end- aaaaaaaarrgghhh it’s so beautiful!!!!!! The song is based on the story of Samson in the Bible, and was originally written and sung by Regina Spektor, but when I heard this cover of it on The Voice Battle Rounds, I just had to buy it!

The Horse and His Boy: Book #5, The Chronicles of Narnia
Just finished reading this book for the second (maybe third?) time. So lovely <3 I definitely recommend it.

I have been spending all of my time memorizing and practicing my lines for the school play, and also my speech (the one about gratitude that I recently posted), which I ended up getting first place in my school with!
Thanks for reading! What are you favourites this week? Do you ever watch The Voice? Let me know!
Hello lovely people! I hope each and every one of you is having a good day. 🙂
Today I am reviewing a travel accessory collection from one of favourite online shops and just sites in general, MochiThings. MochiThings is a store that sells “the cutest, the most unique, and the most functional products”. They have a ton of adorable kawaii products, a lot of stationery, and (my personal favourite category) TRAVEL ACCESSORIES!!!
The collection I’ve chosen to review today is their Essential Pouch Collection. Omigosh, I love it. It is $29. 95, which may seem like a lot, but if you are into travel gadgets and bags etc. (I totally am. 😉 😀 ), then I say it’s a great buy.
The blue ‘charger pouch’ is supposed to be used for chargers/cords and the ‘first aid pouch’ is for first aid supplies or daily pills/medicine, but could also be used for a (girl) emergency kit. I love all the compartments in the first aid pouch, and the one pocket (in a lovely shade of aqua green)in the charger pouch is, although hard to fit much in, very cute as well.
Seems awesome! The material seems very strong and the zippers also seem really good & sturdy. I have not had the chance to use them yet (If this gets lots of views, I might update this section once I’ve used them in Europe this summer), but I have a feeling these pouches will last a while- they feel extremely well made.
CUTENESS 😉 :
Definitely very, very cute. Everybody will be asking where you bought them if you take them to summer camp, a sleepover, or any trip. The design and the colours are picture perfect.
RATING: 4. 5 out of 5
You’ve most likely already gathered this, but I really like this product. I chose not to give a full 5 because they aren’t as big as I’d hoped when I made my order. They might be the perfect sizes for some people, butI just wish they were a little bigger.
Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed this review!! Have you ever heard of MochiThings? Do you often get tempted to spend all your money on travel or kawaii products? Let me know in the comments.
P.S. All opinions are my own and completely honest; I spent my own money on this product and MochiThings did not ask me to review it.
Hey guys! At school right now, we are doing speeches, and I am currently working on mine. It is about gratitude, a subject I’ve been wanting to talk about here on laughing in the rain, so I thought I’d publish a slightly tweaked version of my speech so you can all read (and hopefully enjoy 🙂 ) it. My speech is not at all finished yet, so I have added things here that I may not end up putting in the piece I read at school.
Let’s get right into it!!
When my best friend first moved to Saskatchewan, I was a wreck. My daily routine around that time involved crying and wishing that things would change…that my friend had never moved.
Something that helped me get through this hard time was definitely my gratitude journal.
Friends, random readers, and fellow bloggers, gratitude will change your life. Here’s how it worked for me.
Every night, I would write three events that I was grateful for from that day. They weren’t often major things; sometimes I would write things as little as waking up to sun shining through my window, or reading a book’s title wrong and giggling to myself about it.
Before, I often wondered if there was even a point of life, but this routine made me so much happier. Sure, I still cried sometimes, but I also learned to see the good in things. I even managed to find the positive outcomes of my friend’s move.
Even now, when I don’t manage to write in my journal every night, I am generally a more positive and grateful person. Writing in a gratitude journal so much or such a long time taught me to notice and further appreciate every little part of my day.
Now, all of this may sound crazy, but studies do actually show that thankfulness makes your life better. Being grateful will lead to improved physical and emotional health, greater self esteem, more intelligence, and better sleep.
That’s right; simply noticing and writing a few good parts of your day will make your life that much more awesome.
Still not convinced? Well, I’ve got another trick up my sleeve.
Tell me; is it fun to hang out with people going on about how awfully there day has gone, how bad their outfit looks on them, and why the world is going to end tomorrow (it’s just so unlikely. )?
Would you rather spend time with positive people? Yes? Me too.
And, like I mentioned earlier, gratitude made me way more positive.
Basically, what I’m saying is, keeping a gratitude journal will make you grateful; being grateful will make you healthier, smarter, more confident, and more positive; and being positive will most likely make people like you, which will most likely give you more friends, and that will most likely make you less lonely! (DISCLAIMER: I am not saying that you are lonely or have no friends. 😉 )
I was just about to hit publish when I remembered that I’d forgotten to wish you all Happy Easter! Whoops! So here I am… Happy Easter! Hope you’re having a fun (and maybe productive?!-see my last post) break (do you all get a long weekend like me?)! I also have an announcement: I am feeling inspired so there will be more posts coming soon!! Keep on checking back for a review and other fun stuff too! 😀
Thank you SO much for visiting! Comment telling me if you have ever tried writing a gratitude journal, if you have because of this post, or if you are planning on starting one soon (please do give it a try)!
This week is March Break for me, which can just mean sitting on my couch watching TV or spending hours on Pinterest/ YouTube… You may think that these activities would be fun for me, but usually I just feel… well…gross! Like a couch potato who doesn’t do anything but stare at screens.
So I’ve decided to give you all some good tips on how to be productive on a day when it’s not necessary for you to do anything at all.
STEP ONE // START THE DAY OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT
For me, how I start my day is very important if I am planning on actually getting things done. What I do first thing in the morning has negatively effected my whole day before!
Here are a few ideas: – Have a brisk shower. This always makes me feel fresh, clean and ready for anything. – Exercise. Do yoga or a good workout (I highly recommend the app SWORKIT for both of these-if you want a review, tell me in the comments!). Visiting the gym is another good option. – Go for a walk or run. Kind of fits with exercise, but whatevs. 😉 – Run up and down the stairs a few times. – You could also eat breakfast at this time, but I’d recommend doing that after one of the start-your-day ideas above.
STEP TWO // EAT.
A green smoothie (want a few recipe ideas? comment ‘so smooth’ down below…or just tell me you’d like it 😀 ); a good egg, cheese, and bacon breakfast sandwich filled with protein; a bowl of yogurt with lots of fruit mixed in; an omelette stuffed with veggies; a BLT or even a salad.
Just try to choose something healthy. If this is not possible, ah well, it’s okay, but I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and make something that both you and your body will enjoy.
EXTRA // GET DRESSED This is an extra because it’s your choice when you put this step into action.
In my opinion, your outfit is very important as well. When I wear my pyjamas all day or I just put on sweatpants and a sweater, I feel like I do when I spend all day on the couch: gross. If you feel the same way, I suggest wearing one of your favourite outfits that will make you feel pretty and presentable (even if you’re not planning on leaving the house or seeing anyone all day!).
STEP THREE // JUST DO IT.
Now it’s time for the most important step. This step is actually so important that it has to put into 3 parts.
A) ASK YOURSELF SOME QUESTIONS And maybe write down your answers if you’d like.
– What do I want to accomplish? Today I wanted to tidy my room and write this post. – How long do I have? I had a lot of time. – How can I make this easier for myself? I find things easier when I reward myself, so, since I enjoy writing blog posts and don’t particularly enjoy cleaning my room, I decided to reward myself with writing my blog post after I cleaned my room for a while.
B) FIGURE OUT A REWARD SYSTEM
Some reward ideas for the peeps who don’t have any thing on their ‘to do’ list that they actually want to do : – Read a book/magazine – Have a snack – Go for a walk – Lie down with your cat and think ( 🙂 ) – FREE TIME, where you can choose to do any of the above – Watch TV or go on your phone (*sigh* I am reluctant to put this one on the list, because really I think that making your productive day screen-less is a great idea…)
Now, decide the times. For example, do 20 minutes of the thing you have to get done, then 15 minutes of the thing you want to do (your reward – for me thiswas writing my blog post).
C) DO THE THING! 😀
Just think about what the final product will be like once you’re done (how amazing my room will look…). If I really don’t feel up to doing something, I often play music (Google Play Music’s Uplifting Pop Motivation playlist is perfect for that; if you want to know more about the music I listen to, tell me in the comments!), which totally motivates me and also turns cleaning into a DANCE PARTY! Another good/important tip: don’t forget to keep hydrated! When you don’t drink enough water, everything feels harder. Have a good glass of water every reward time. 😉
Thanks for reading! Have a great day!!!

Hi guys! What’s up? So I’ve sort of had another blogging slump, but a new post has finally arrived! 🙂
Since I last posted, I had my 12th birthday! My parents gave me a DSLR Camera for it; a Canon Rebel T2i, and I LOVE it!!! 🙂
Now, anyway, I don’t know about you, but where I live, it feels like spring is in the air. Sure, there are some flurries forecasted for this week, but after every snow, a good rain will be coming too.
For me, spring means…
and all the other easter treats, sun on my sweatered or jacketed* back while having a windy walk, very blue skies, daylily buds, happily brown grass, small patches of equally brown snow, the occasional green leaf on a bare tree that appears to be stuck in winter, daffodils growing through the cracked part of the driveway behind my house, my cat stripes getting less & less crazy, starting to be able to hear the birds’ chorus early in the morning, stepping out of doors to see if winter coats are still necessary, that awkward time when it’s hard to tell if one should wear winter or summer clothing, wind on my rosy red cheeks and hair blowing around wildly, when daylight saving time starts; changing the clocks with excitement, and breathing in fresh, fresh, fresh air
*=I don’t believe either of these are real words, but do any of us really care?
Thank you very very very much for reading!! And now, I’d really love all of your post ideas. What would you like to see up on laughing in the rain? Like I said, I’d really, really appreciate any opinions at all.
Hey guys! I thought I’d do a little life update on my week.
I’ve just finished my first week back at school after Winter Break (sigh). I am definitely grateful for a break this weekend!! 😉
I started knitting club this week at school and so far, I’m doing awfully. My teacher is trying as hard as she can to teach me (and doing a really good job at it!!) but I’m kind of hopeless. Maybe I’ll get better though! Who knows?!
A couple of my friends and I had an awesome time yesterday organizing the class/helping the teacher. We cleaned all the mini whiteboards, organized (with colour coding of course) and tested all the whiteboard markers, we folded and organized (with colour coding again!) the whiteboard cloths, and we CHOSE THE WHOLE MONTH’S HOMEWORK (SCORE!!!!! Am i right??). We did quite a few more jobs too, but the best of the best were the ones I mentioned above.
I’ve been reading…. The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, by Kate DiCamillo. So far it’s good but very sad. ;(
My phone broke, and the only way to fix it is “wiping it” (taking everything off it). Sadly, the last time it was backed up was in November, so I’m losing all my Christmas photos (which were going to be in a post (that is no longer happening)) and other stuff like notes with passwords in and such. So yeah… as my mom put it, that’s what happens when you puut your life into a tiny device that could break any moment.
We watched STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS (woot woot) on Sunday night!! (I am not sure that that counts as this week, but ah well.) I loved it. I laughed and I cried. I would tell you more, but I don’t want to spoil anything for those who haven’t watched it.
We also recently watched SUPERMAN II which was alright. 😀
I’ve been recently listening to and loving Taylor Swift’s RED album. I went to the RED Tour in 2013, loved it, and then basically stopped being obsessed with T.S. I don’t love 1989, but I’ve started listening to the RED C.D. again and almost every single song on it is awesome. 😉
