You wake up to the annoying sound of your alarm and wish you didn’t have to get out of bed. You go over everything you’re dreading about the day for a solid ten minutes and then, finally, roll out of bed miserably. Sound familiar?
Today I’m going to be showing you some great things to do in the morning, to start your day off on the right foot, and hopefully make you more happy, productive and mindful. I do a bunch of these things, and they definitely work for me, so I challenge you to give at least one a try and let me know how it goes!
1 – Surprise yourself by getting out of bed reasonably quickly. Set a limit for how many times you press SNOOZE after the alarm goes off – if you usually lie in bed for 20 minutes, try 10! It will make you feel more awake and ready to tackle the day.
2 – Don’t start the day on your phone. I, personally, don’t keep my phone beside my bed – partly because my parents don’t want me to 😉 – but also because I know that I’d be on it for ages every morning if it was beside my bed. I think it’s a great idea to do the next three things on this list before you start checking your social medias; give it a try and let me know how it goes!
3 – Write down goals and good things about the day to come. Keep a notebook close to your bed so you can reach it while you’re lying in bed. Now, instead of dreading the cold floor, you can be writing down 1 or 2 things you’re looking forward to about the day, and a goal or two. Then, as soon as you’re done, hop out of bed, excited for the day. I do this and really enjoy it!
4 – Splash your face with some water. This or just washing it can really wake you up and make you feel nice and refreshed.
5 – Do 5 minutes of yoga. I use this video on the YouTube channel, Yoga With Adriene, and I absolutely love it.
I try to do it every morning before I get dressed and just the fact that I made myself do it always makes me feel happy, proud and productive. This is also just such a great video – very slow and calm, but enough to wake up your body.
